World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading
The item upgrade allows players to boost the gear rating of an item by up 700 points and also add a bonus. Items can be upgraded if they are in your inventory and you bring them to the Kiln.
Certain items are worth upgrading because of their unique stats. (For example the perfect rolled breakpoint armor used in melee PvP). Other items such as weapons don't really change after an upgrade, and aren't worth the effort.
Weapons
Weapons can be upgraded to improve their numeric stats, such as the chance to crit, attack damage PvE and damage from PvP. They also have a flat bonus that increases their damage per second. In addition some weapons come with a set bonus which is activated when three or more of the same weapon are present on a unit. In certain instances, this bonus can add up to more than the amount of damage a weapon can sustain by itself.
The cost of upgrading a weapon's capabilities is contingent on the rarity of the weapon and its current level. For instance, a +2 weapon will require two standard Smithing Stones while a+3 requires four. The number of stones needed to upgrade the gun will increase until it requires an upgrade to a higher level of Smithing Stones. At that point, it will reset back to one.
Upgrading weapons will also reroll their base stats. This is generally a positive factor, but it could also have negative consequences. For items that only see use in a particular build (Whistant's shield for FB Sorcs, for example) upgrading them can render them unusable unless you happen to have an extremely lucky roll.
The ability to upgrade armor items to boost their stats. For example, if you upgrade chests or helms it will boost its base defense while gloves and belts improve their required strength and dexterity. Armor also offers an option to reroll its Enhanced Defense percent, which means that it could change its roll to a lower value.
The upgrade template for a weapon shows the new stats it will gain when upgraded, along with their relative values. This means that the weapon will gain an attack damage of 3% if it is upgraded from an 8 attack damage sword to an 11 attack damage sword. However the 3% difference doesn't mean that it will strike for 3 fewer times, since it is an absolute statistic.
A weapon can also be rerolled by pressing the green button that has circular arrows within the item menu. The item will be rerolled and alter its stats but it won't reset the weapon's level or tie it to the account status.

Armor
A few armor upgrades can make all the difference to your survivability. Certain sets can provide MASSIVE increases in resistance to curses, poison and fire as well as magic. This can make it easier to navigate difficult areas. In general, the greater defense your character has the more value you can get out of each point of health, so it's important to upgrade your armor as much as possible.
You can upgrade your armor by visiting one of the Great Fairy Fountains. There are four Great Fairy Fountains within the game and to unlock them all, you must complete a side quest that involves the Stable Trotters. After you've completed the main side quest and mastered the fountain that corresponds, you can then contact any Great Fairy to open up the armor upgrading menu.
Each piece of armor can be upgraded to three levels and the amount of materials and Rupees required to complete each level will differ. In general, you're looking at anything from three to ten Red Chuchu Jellies and 10 Rupees for the initial upgrade, and anywhere between five Rubies and 10 Fire-Breath Horns for each subsequent one. The Champion Leathers, as an example can be upgraded to a 5 defense rating, which will allow you to stay ahead in cold environments with a lot of foes. The Snowquill Headdress, on the other side, can be upgraded to +20 defense, which means you're able to withstand a rout with your friends.
Note that armor can't be upgraded the same way as weapons, so you'll have to work on upgrading it to gain physical strength if you're a Warrior or Spell Power when you're a Mage. It's also worth saving your armor upgrades for armor you'll be wearing at the end of the game, such as the Ring of Lightning and Spectral Shield, or the helmet you use to fight the final boss as well as the Monter Parts merchant's mask.
You can also gain perks for your armor by presenting the jeweler at Gerudo Town 10 Twinkling Titanite. Generally speaking, you'll want to save these upgrades for the weapon you'll use to win the game, like the Longsword, Battleaxe or Warhammer However, it is useful to have some upgrades of the helmets and chest armor that permit you to sneak past some monsters.
Potions
Potions are substances in bottles that, when consumed give the player an effect on their status for a short period of time. There are five types of potions, each having particular effects and durations. Certain potions can be upgraded, enhancing their level of effect. Alternatively, the effects of some potions can be enhanced by adding redstone or glowstone dust to them.
Potion upgrades require a certain amount of XP. This can be obtained through crafting them on a craft table or by storing them in the Alchemist chest. The price of upgrades will vary based on the type of potion you'd like to upgrade, and also on the item's Mark Level as well as its rarity.
To upgrade a potions simply right-click on it in your inventory. Then, select "Upgrade" from the menu. This opens an GUI in which you can select the potion you want to upgrade and the amount of XP they will produce when upgraded. You can upgrade potions in batches of up to five at once, and their XP will be added to the total XP you have.
When a poton is upgraded in quality, it will not deteriorate unless you take it out again or break the bottle within which it is kept. Clicking on the potion in your inventory will also allow you to change its name.
Version 1.7.2 brought a few changes to the mechanics of potions. Splash potions for instance have now a duration of zero, not the 22.5 seconds that are displayed on the hover display for the item. The potion table can now be constructed using four Wood Planks and two Glass. This allows it to be utilized by players in Survival and Bedrock. Bedrock Edition potions aren't compatible with cauldrons, as is the case with Java Edition. This is the same for using a potion within a cauldron that is full. This will draw out the potion and refill the bottle.
In addition, there are simmering potions made using splash and dragon breath potions. Redstone can also be added to lingering potions to enhance their effects. The table of potions is laid out more in line with the Java Edition, and new potions were introduced, including potion of leaping, potion of decomposition, and turtle master potions.
Trinkets
A trinket is a small and cheap ornament or piece of jewelry. It could be a reference to a piece of art or a decoration that serves a purpose, but isn't particularly significant like a trinket. In some cultures, a trinket is used to show affection or friendship between family members.
In addition to armor, weapons, and potions, players are able to upgrade their trinkets. These can be upgraded by visiting an upgrade vendor and paying the appropriate currency. As with other upgrades to items, trinkets can be traded out at any time without losing their status.
Upgrade vendors can be found at the capitals of each zone and in some cases in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets can be purchased with gold, tokens or fragments of a rare trinket.
Upgrading a trinket is a cost-effective alternative to purchasing a new one. One can upgrade their trinket for as little 12 tokens. The new trinket will feature the same base ilvl as the older one, and come with an additional 1% upgrade bonus.
Trinkets can be re-upgraded once they are no longer needed, allowing a player to boost their power and value over time. They can be traded among players which makes them a good alternative to gold.
Players should upgrade their most important items first. This usually refers to the most valuable-in-slot items for their class, followed by their secondaries and then other gear items that they will not be replacing in the near future (for example an earring or cloak). When deciding which items to upgrade players should consider the class's preferred stats. If item upgrader and Crit are two of the most important stats to a tank player and they want to upgrade their chest, helm, and shoulders.
Trinkets can be upgraded to a higher level once they no longer have value, and the new trinket will have an additional bonus of 1% for upgrading. However, a re-upgrade will destroy the old trinket until it is salvaged with a Black Lion Salvage Kit or an alternative salvage tool that is higher-end. Upgrades to trinkets are more expensive than other upgrades but still less expensive than purchasing an entirely new trinket.
